2024 Mozambique Fieldwork

In June-July 2024, some members of the TREPA human dimensions team began collecting data in the Mozambique portion of the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Areas, including communities adjacent to the Limpopo National Park and Lebombo Conservancies. Communities were identified during and after the 2023 Indaba. TREPA team members traveled to 3 communities in the northern, 2 in the middle and 5 in the southern range of the study region. After obtaining all formal permits and permissions, TREPA team members visited with communities chiefs and ndunas, then began collecting data. In addition to structured interviews using KoBo Toolbox, TREPA conducted participatory mapping, focus group discussions, and semi-structured interviews. It was an extremely productive, challenging, rewarding, dusty, and collaborative social science fieldseason!
